Great for SAD, and starting your day after the sun goes down. I was using the mini, which works great as well, but as the web site’s description states, bigger is better. This model casts a broader beam so the user will is more likley to sit in an optimal andel. This panel does not get hot either. Would buy one of these every year if i had to.

Calling this light “bright” does not even describe it. It is important that you use it in a well lit room. That may sound funny because it is a big bright light, but it is difficult to sit very close to it in a dark room. Your eyes cannot adjust to the rest of the room if you are so close to it when the rest of the room is dark.
I turned it on in a brightly lit room during the middle of the day and it still brightened the room when other lights made no impact.
It is easy to use – set down the foot in the back, plug in, and turn on.
As for light therapy, I did receive a recommendation that it helps your body if the light comes from above your eye level and that is a challenge with this unit. It does not have a mounting bracket to allow you to put it on an arm. If you put it on a shelf above eye level, the foot does not allow you to angle it downward toward you.
Overall, I am very impressed with the light.

If you want a portable small but effective lightbox which is the recommended 10,000 Lux, I recommend this product highly. Purchased it this week and have just ordered another power cord so I do not have to transport cord from one room or place to another. Customer service prompt and courteous. Beth is sending out power cord today for reasonable price. I have two friends that have looked at the light box and are seriously considering purchasing it. Living here in Maine the shorter days and cold Winters really have an effect on one’s mood especially if one has SAD. I am a retired therapist and purchased 10 years ago a larger light box that was bulky and no longer practical as I have a small condo. Let’s stay in the light.!

I bought the lightpad to help with my winter blues. We had a long and dark winter and I was ready to try anything to make a positive impact. A few points I liked about it: It’s small and easy to move around. I like the easy buttons on front, which adjusts the brightness. I also liked how it had an attached, adjustable stand. The first thing that drew me to the Aurora LightPad MAX was the size of the light. As you can see, it is perfect to set up on my side table, and makes it easier to read…or play a little sudoku. For such a small light, it emits a lot of light, which makes it easier when I’m using the Aurora LightPad MAX in the morning. I would definitely recommend buying one!

We bought the Alaska Northern Lights Mini for my mother-in-law to help with her sleep cycle regulation. It’s a compact design that enables placement between you and your keyboard, when seated at a desk typing. This allows you to work while you receive treatment. Likewise, it can be easily placed below you sight line as you watch morning TV. The 10,000 lux machine meets criteria for 30-60 minute treatments at 24-30 inches from user. The power of the unit allows for placement an extra 6 inches than most units. Hopefully, ANL can produce a battery operated unit so you aren’t tethered to an outlet.

Bringing “sunshine” to the winter blues!
Alaska Northern lights is, in my opinion, the best commercially available option providing treatment devices for full spectrum light boxes to mitigate SAD symptoms during the winter months. I have purchased several of their products over the years, all of which were helpful.
Most recently, I purchased the LED LightPad. This is by far my favorite device of this sort. It’s powerful, lightweight, and highly portable. I find it works best when connected to a gooseneck stand (see attached photo). But even without the stand, it is effective; and I travel with it during the winter wherever I go. In addition to making a great product, the people who work at Alaska Northern Lights are a pleasure to talk to.
In this era of fake, positive online reviews, please note that I have written this review solely because I believe in the product, and I want to share the relief it has brought me. This is the one you want!
