Winter Makes Us SAD

During the winter, the days are shorter and time spent outdoors seems to diminish. It takes a lot more time to be able to go outside due to jackets, scarves, gloves and boots which means many people tend to avoid it as much as possible. With less sunlight, everyday tasks seem to become impossible and all you want to do is eat and sleep. Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that causes your body to lose energy. When SAD is in full effect, you may not want to leave your house let alone do chores and work. To make up for the low sun levels, a Light Box can be used as seasonal depression treatment to help give you back your energy and boost your mood level.

The way it works: While sitting in front of a Light Box for about 30 minutes each morning, your brain releases serotonin, which is known as “The Happy Chemical”. Due to the higher serotonin levels, you will get a boost in energy and mood. Light Therapy is low risk which makes it the perfect, holistic winter depression treatment.
