UV Free Light

Light therapy can be used to treat many different conditions like depression, sleep disorders, PTSD and many more. When it comes to light therapy boxes, you want to make sure to stay away from all UV rays. A light box works by having the unit angled towards your face so that your eyes are able to absorb the light. This bright light exposure causes a chemical reaction in your brain to produce serotonin. Since the light needs to shine towards your eyes in order to get the effects, it is very important to use a light box that does not emit any UV rays.

We manufacture 3 different light therapy boxes: the NorthStar 10,000, Aurora LightPad Mini and Aurora LightPad Max. Each of our light boxes use special broad spectrum bulbs/LEDs. With broad spectrum lights, they emit a clean white light and no UV rays. With this type of light, there are very few possible risks – headaches or eye strain are the main ones.

Any light that contains UV rays, like full spectrum (blue) lights, you have to be very careful and make sure that all of the rays are filtered out so that it doesn’t cause any damage to your skin or eyes. Our company prefers to use only the safe, UV free broad spectrum lights for our light therapy boxes.
