How Long Do Bulbs Last?

When it comes to light therapy boxes, the bulbs can have very different lifespans. For example, one type of bulb may need to be replaced every year while another may never get replaced at all! Here is the break down for all of our light boxes:

The NorthStar 10,000 Light Box – this lamp uses fluorescent light box bulbs that should be replaced about every 3 years, depending on how often you use the lamp. After about 3 years of regular use, there is a chemical change in the bulbs the effects the output. Once this chemical change happens, you may notice that you don’t get the same results after using your light so it is good to keep track of the last time you replaced the bulbs.

The Aurora LightPad Mini and Aurora LightPad Max – these units use special LED chips that will last for up to 60 years. You will never need to pay for replacement bulbs with either of these units!

The Sperti Vitamin D Sunlamp – these fluorescent UV therapy light bulbs have a lifespan of 1,000 usage hours. With only using this lamp for 5 minutes every other day, these bulbs will last you a very long time. With that being said, it is still very important to keep track of how long and how often you use your sunlamp to insure that you are always getting the most effectiveness out of the bulbs.
